KU Leuven accepts applications from of the different eligible regions candidates to pursue their PhD degree program or doctoral in Belgium with a fully funded scholarship. The scholarship is for those candidates who have no financial resources to continue their PhD degree program at the best institute. The KU Global Minds program is managed by the Interfaculty Council for Global Development.  

The university provides a golden chance for students to conduct 4 years of PhD research that must be 50% done at KU Leuven and 50% in the home institutions of the scholars with the help of Local Co-Promotor. After that, both partners combine the research.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to apply for the Master’s Minds Doctoral Scholarships are as follows:

  • The applicant must be a citizen of one of the countries included in the eligible region list.
  • The students who have citizenship of the EU will not be eligible to apply
  • Applicants with a long-term EU residence permit also are not allowed to apply.
  • The candidates’ Master’s degree program has no gap of more than 10 years on the date of 1 October 2023. 
  • Excellent educational record
  • The candidates must be bright in research
  • The student has been awarded an academic grade equivalent to High Distinction. 
  • Your research project must show excellent academic quality, focusing on development.
  • Educational Transcripts.

The financial coverage of the scholarship is as:

  • The scholarship covers the full tuition fee of the selected candidates.
  • The scholarship covers the travel grant.
  • Scholarships also cover the monthly allowance of the candidates.
