UNCDF Internship 2023 is looking for interns to join the IDE (inclusive digital economy) team. The interns will work under the unit supervisors from three teams that are looking for interns which include Policy Accelerator, Migration and Remittance and Knowledge Management and Communication. The interns will work under the guidance of unit supervisors to achieve the Unit’s work plan and goals. The manager of the UNCDF Internship 2023 is dedicated to give the necessary training, instructions and support to interns to successfully fulfil their duties or responsibilities during UNCDF Internship 2023
The UNCDF (UN Capital Development Fund) is dedicated to enabling public and private finance to benefit those living in the 46 least developed countries (LDCs) around the globe. UN Capital Development Fund utilizes an innovative finance model “last mile” that facilitates the mobilization of private and public resources, particularly at the local level with the aim of alleviating poverty and fostering domestic economic development.
UN Capital Development Fund utilizes three channels to operate financing models:
UNCDF Inclusive Digital Economies:
This includes connecting people, communities and small businesses with the financial ecosystem to promote their participation in the local economy.
UNCDF Local Development Finance:
UNCDF supports local areas through fiscal devolution, municipal budgeting and infrastructure financing to empower local areas to drive progress in the economy and regenerative advancement.
Investment Finance:
UNCDF facilitates financial planning, de-risking and utilization of capital resources which lead to generate effect on SDGs and domestic resources.

UNCDF is seeking interns for different teams within their IDE practice:
- Policy Interns for East Africa (Kampala, Uganda or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia)
- Policy Interns with a focus on gender and research (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia or Kampala, Uganda or Brussels, Belgium)
- Policy Interns with a focus on West and Central Africa (Dakar, Senegal or Douala or Yaoundé, Cameroon)
- Data Analytics and Research Interns for the Migration and Remittance team (Geneva, Switzerland, Bangkok or Thailand)
- Gender Research Interns for the Migration and Remittance team (New York, United States)
- Communication Interns to support knowledge management and communication efforts (Brussels, Belgium)
Remember that for the team of data analytics and research and gender research, only full-time internships are available.
Eligibility Criteria for UNCDF Internship 2023:
To be eligible for this internship program, you should meet the following criteria:
- Applicants should be currently admitted in a master’s program or higher or applicants should be currently in the last year of a bachelor’s program or equal to it.
- Applicants should have graduated or should hold a university degree as told in the previous criteria and in case they get selected, they should get into starting the internship within the confines of one year of graduating.
- Candidates should be admitted to a professional traineeship program and undertake this internship because it is part of the program.
- Moreover, it is necessary to have awareness of worldwide progress, and digital economic services as well as awareness of aspects related to cross-border transactions, virtual banking and advancement, the principles and the innovation landscape that shapes interns.
- Candidates should be proficient in the speaking and writing skills of the English language.
- Proficiency in French language is also required.
- If applicants have knowledge about any other language of the UN, it will be considered an advantage.
Advantage of UNCDF Internship 2023:
According to the amended UNDP Internship Policy, UNCDF (UN Capital Development Fund) will provide the interns with a monthly internship allowance. However, all the expenses related to UNCDF Internship 2023 will be covered by interns or their sponsoring institution.
